HELEN TAROKIĆ

immigration & naturalization law

A large part of our practice focuses on employment-based cases. We advise on all aspects of business immigration law including:

  • Nonimmigrant (temporary) working visas, such as H-1B, H-1B1, L-1A/B, Trade Nafta (TN), J-1 teacher exchange, H-2B/A, O-1 and E-1/E-2. There is a “visa alphabet” of temporary visa categories; we strive to choose the best fit and most cost-effective case strategy for the business and individual.
  • Permanent residence sponsorship through employer sponsorship and self-sponsorship
  • Employer I-9 compliance, HR training, and raid defense
  • Retention of green cards or naturalization for employees embarking on business assignments abroad
  • Citizenship, residency, and visa issues for multi-national managers
  • Immigration options for educators and school administrators, including foreign exchange placements, work visas, green cards, and more. Special discounts apply to school districts and individual teachers as part of our committment to community service and the public good. We are now offering select pro-bono representation of teachers who are denied H-1B visas due to lack of ability to demonstrate a school-university affiliation, due to the importance of litigating this critical issue on a national level.
  • We are also offering pro-bono representation on select “labor certification expiration” cases at the I-140 level, again due the importance of litigating the DOL regulation creating labor certification expiration dates

Employment Immigration

We are aware of how urgent employment-based immigration and visa needs can be. For this reason, we offer rushed appointments for emergencies or urgent circumstances. For our business immigration clients, we offer individualized telephonic or video consultations to their employees abroad. This helps make sure everyone is on the same page, regardless of the time zone.

We are proud to offer fast response times and are committed to outstanding, professional customer service. We work closely with Human Resources to develop an efficient intake and workflow process for volume cases. We help explain to the employer/sponsor all obligations throughout the visa or green card process, so that commitments are entered into with full understanding by all parties.

We believe that America’s businesses are better because of employment-based immigration. As a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, Attorney Helen Tarokic has worked to inform the community of the importance and benefit of business immigration to our local and national economies.
